Changing lives through martial arts
Martial arts saved him as a child. A small boy who was bullied in Korea became a national champion — and he still teaches the principles that changed his life.
Kwanjangnim often says that martial arts saved him. Small in stature and bullied as a child in Korea, he found the training hall — and what he learned there was not only how to defend himself, but a set of principles for the rest of life.
That is what a traditional school is for, and it is why our students stay. Our youngest is four years old. Our eldest is seventy-two.
Why train here
Credible systems
Taekwondo, Hapkido, Gumdo and Tai Chi are established arts practised by millions worldwide. Kwanjangnim brings them together in his own syllabus, kwanjangdo.
Every age
Our students range from four years old to seventy-two. Whatever age you are starting at, someone here started there too.
Traditional values
Respect, discipline and perseverance, taught deliberately and carried outside the training hall.
A community
A close-knit group of people who train together, compete together and look out for one another.
What parents say
My kids have been attending lessons for about 5 years. They have grown in confidence, their concentration has improved and they love being taught by Master Lee.
Afzal IsmailParent · Google review This is the very best Taekwondo academy in Johannesburg. Grandmaster Eun Lee is so inspiring… my son has developed in ways that were unimaginable. We are so grateful to him.

You should not have to live feeling unsafe
When you cannot defend yourself, the world is a bigger and more frightening place than it needs to be. It shows — in how you carry yourself, and in places that have nothing to do with fighting.
We have worked with hundreds of students, young and old. As you grow as a martial artist you become calmer, more confident and more assertive, and the fear quietly stops being the thing that decides what you do.
